Vacancies

The Trust is rapidly expanding as we take on more projects for the community. Opportunities to join the Trust for employment or as a volunteer will be listed here as they arise. If you are considering supporting the Trust with your time please contact enquiries@agdt.co.uk even if there are no specific vacancies advertised. Everybody is welcome!

Volunteering

The Trust only has a couple of part-time staff and could not complete its work without the support of volunteers, whether on the Board or assisting with events and advising on local initiatives. Please consider joining us to help shape the future for the Ardgour Community Council area, which stretches from Duisky in the north, to Kingairloch in the south.

Trustees

The charity can have a maximum of ten Trustees. In addition to a representative of the Community Council, we strive to include volunteers from other key local organisations, from all geographic areas of the community including:

  • A Resident of Ardgour

  • A Resident of South Locheilside

  • A Resident of Kingairloch

  • A Representative of Ardgour Primary School Parent Council

  • A Representative of Ardgour, Morvern and Strontian Parish Church of Scotland

  • A Representative of Ardgour Memorial Hall

  • A Representative of Treslaig Village Hall

We may also appoint a Trustee from outwith the area who wishes to support our work.

We currently have two vacancies on our Board of Trustees and specifically we are seeking a Treasurer to provide financial oversight of the Trusts work, supporting the Development Officer, (who produces regular financial reports). The turnover of the Trust is approximately £80,000 per annum. Please see the Trustees Job Description for details.

We are especially interested in welcoming Trustees who

  • would relish the experience of serving as Treasurer,

  • may be able to offer experience of overseeing capital build projects and dealing with associated professionals and contractors

  • have an interest in active travel – specifically cycling, as we look to develop and expand a community E-Bike project.

Please contact enquiries@agdt.co.uk if you are interested in applying.

Working Groups

To assist the Trustees in delivering community projects we welcome input from those who have an interest in these areas. Current Working Groups, which meet once every couple of months – online or face to face, include:

Affordable Housing – the Trust is pushing forward with the feasibility and planning process to build a £2million affordable housing project at Clovullin, with expected land acquisition in the coming months. Three of our Trustees are working with the Development Officer and the design team to secure Full Planning Permission.

Heritage – following recent public meetings the Trust has gathered a long list of heritage subject areas that the community is interested in recording, preserving and interpreting, covering the length and breadth of the Community Council area. This includes the land management and history of the area, education provision through the ages, significant historical events linked to the Jacobite rebellion, local archaeology, remembering the fallen of past wars, and promoting greater every-day use of use of Gaelic. If you feel strongly about these subjects, then come along to our next project meeting to help shape our next steps.

E-Bikes – Handy with a spanner ? The Trust will soon take over the running of three e-bikes available for hire to local residents for between two weeks and 6 months. To help with this we are looking for volunteers to assist with checking the bikes over before and after each hire, and carrying out simple cleaning and maintenance. (Annual “MOT’s” will be provided by a suitably qualified professional. Full training will be provided by Lochaber Environmental Group for any interested volunteers.

Multi-Use Games Area and Recreation Park – plans are progressing to lease the land opposite Ardgour Village Hall and turn it into a recreation hub for the area. The “MUGA” will provide facilities for tennis, 5-a-side and basketball, and outdoor equipment will be installed for calisthenic exercise and play equipment for our younger residents. The area will also feature picnic benches, footpaths and an outdoor “gazebo” and BBQ area and some areas of this piece of waste land will be re-planted to enhance biodiversity. Whilst still at an early stage, if you are interested in helping shape this amazing project for the area then do please get in touch.

Winter Suppers – following the lead of the our local Church of Scotland volunteers post Covid Ardgour has hosted a series of community suppers on Monday evenings, January to March. In 2026 these were expanded to include Treslaig. We will be running these again in 2027 and we welcome support with offering lifts to those without transport to get to the suppers, setting up the village halls with tables, chairs and water, and clearing up at the end of each supper. (The food and (most) washing up is undertaken by local catering suppliers.) If you would like to be part of the ‘Winter Suppers Helpers Team’ we would love to hear from you.

Community Beach Clean and Area Litter Pick - Last year the AGDT helped coordinate a local litter pick around the villages and also a beach clean (with teas, coffees, soup and home baking) at Sallachan Beach. Local sponsor Charles Brand – who are undertaking the infrastructure work at the ferry have sponsored a full range of equipment to help, and  hope to run the event again in 2027. Fancy a bit of fresh air and doing your bit for the community?  Then please get in touch and we will contact you as soon as the date has been confirmed.

In all instances please email enquiries@agdt.co.uk and we will be in touch.
