November 2026 ADGT Update

Ardgour Area Fund - Applications Welcome!

Are you part of a local group with a project that could benefit from some financial support?

The Ardgour Area Fund is open for applications, offering funding to constituted community groups and organisations working within the Ardgour Community Council area.

Applications are considered quarterly by the Trustees, with the next deadline on 1st February 2027.

For applications over £1,000, groups are normally expected to demonstrate matched funding. This can include contributions from other funders, donated materials or volunteer time.

If your group has an idea or project in need of support, we'd encourage you to take a look at the funding guidelines and application form on our website:

Help Shape the Future of Our Communities

With more community projects underway, Ardgour Glensanda Development Trust is growing, and we'd love to welcome some new faces to help us with the work ahead!

The Trust currently has two vacancies on its Board of Trustees, including an opportunity for someone interested in taking on the role of Treasurer.

We're particularly keen to hear from people with experience in finance, capital building projects or an interest in active travel and cycling. However, you don't need to have been a Trustee before, and we'd welcome enquiries from anyone who feels they could make a contribution.

Trustees don't necessarily need to live locally either. If you have a connection to the area or would like to support the work of the Trust, we'd be pleased to hear from you.

There's also plenty of scope to get involved without joining the Board. Our working groups bring together local people who want to contribute ideas, knowledge and a little of their time to projects that matter to the community.

Interested? Drop us an email at enquiries@agdt.co.uk for an informal chat.

Community Projects: could you lend a hand?

Much of the Trust's work is made possible by volunteers, and there are several projects where an extra pair of hands would be very welcome.

Community E-Bikes: We're preparing to take over three e-bikes which will be available for local residents to hire for periods of between two weeks and six months. We're looking for volunteers who can help check bikes before and after hire, as well as carry out basic cleaning and maintenance. Full training will be provided by Lochaber Environmental Group, so you don't need to be a bike expert!

Heritage: Following our community meetings in September, we've gathered a fantastic range of ideas about the area's history and heritage. We're now looking at how these stories, memories and traditions can be recorded and preserved. If you're interested in local history, archaeology, crofting or Gaelic heritage, we'd love you to join the conversation.

Affordable Housing: Work continues on plans for six affordable homes at Clovullin. The project is progressing through the feasibility and planning stages, with the Trust working alongside its design team and Communities Housing Trust. There is still plenty to do, and community involvement remains an important part of the process.

Recreation Park and MUGA: Plans are developing for a new community recreation area opposite Ardgour Memorial Hall, including a Multi-Use Games Area, outdoor exercise equipment, play facilities and space for people to gather. The project is still at an early stage, making this a great opportunity for local people to help shape the proposals.

If any of these projects catch your interest, please get in touch at enquiries@agdt.co.uk.

Winter Suppers Will Be Back!

There's something lovely about getting together for a hot meal and a blether on a cold winter evening, and we're pleased that our popular community Winter Suppers will be returning in early 2027!

Thanks to funding from the Highland Third Sector Interface Communities Mental Health & Wellbeing Fund, we're planning another programme of suppers in Ardgour and Treslaig.

We hope to welcome plenty of familiar faces, along with some new ones, when the programme gets underway in the New Year. Could you help out? We're putting together a team of volunteers to assist with setting up the halls, clearing away afterwards and offering lifts to those who might otherwise struggle to attend.

You don't need to help at every supper, and even an occasional hand would be appreciated.

We'll share dates and further details nearer the time, so keep an eye out!

Looking Ahead to Our Community Litter Pick

Fancy getting outdoors and doing something positive for the local area?

Following last year's community litter pick and beach clean at Sallachan, we're hoping to organise another event in 2027.

Thanks to sponsorship from Charles Brand, who are undertaking the Corran Ferry infrastructure works, the Trust has a range of litter-picking equipment available to support future events.

We're keen to hear from anyone who would like to take part or help organise the next clean-up. We'll confirm dates once plans are in place.

Got a Community Event Coming Up?

Don't forget that we can help promote local events and activities through the Trust's website and social media channels.

If your group, club or organisation has something planned, send us the details and a poster if you have one, and we'll help spread the word.
