August 2025 AGDT Update

Ardgour Glensanda Development Trust – Trustee Update

The Quarterly meeting of the Trustees of the Ardgour Glensanda Development Trust was held on 13th August 2025.
It was a full meeting with plenty of follow-up actions and discussion points. The Trust are seeking a trustee from the Kingairloch/Kilmalieu area to fill our final vacancy on the Board.

Our Place Plan priorities continue to be pursued by the Development Officer and community members.

Main Actions:

Winter Suppers
The trustees agreed to take overview of this project, with the bulk of the work being undertaken by one of our Trustees in liaison with our Project Officer and community members. Applications for funding have been submitted and, if successful, the suppers will begin again in January. This year the project is planned to extend to Treslaig, with support from Ardgour Memorial Hall.

Multi-Use Sports Pitch (MUGA)
We are inviting all members of the community to attend a public meeting to consider draft designs for a new sports facility in Ardgour on Thursday 18th September at 7pm in Ardgour Hall.
Our Project Officer will give a short presentation and we are seeking community views on the design. Very importantly, we also need to discuss whether to locate the facility on the cleared woodland between the Hall and the school, or to work with Highland Council and the school to replace some of the grass pitch with tarmac and locate it there. Without guidance from community members we cannot progress funding applications – so please attend if you can.

Footpaths
Some of the Trustees will meet to begin clearing work. A plan of the desired areas is being discussed amongst the breakout group, and final proposals will be presented to the community for comment.

Housing
Our Project Officer has been busy seeking funding for the first stages of our project to provide affordable houses in Ardgour and the Lochside, and we are awaiting decisions on applications made. A further meeting with the landowner will be organised in the near future. A housing survey will also be undertaken across the Community Council area to provide more evidence. More updates will follow.

Treslaig Hall
Working with the ADG Project Officer, Treslaig Hall have secured a CLLD grant of £8,750 towards replacing the remaining windows and doors with double glazing, commissioning an insulation report, and improving the car park. We are pleased to announce that the AGDT Trustees agreed to release £2,000 of reserved funds to allow the car park work to start before the weather worsens. We are now looking to find the remaining £4,800 to enable the full project to go ahead.

Glensanda Funding
We are still awaiting final settlement of the renegotiated funding agreement but, subject to the Trustees agreeing terms on grant awards, we hope to release some funding for open applications shortly. Look out for news of this.
