September 2025 Trustee Update
Clovullin Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA)
Thank you to everyone who joined the community meeting on 18th September in the Ardgour Hall. It was a positive session with plenty of great ideas shared. The emerging consensus seems to be to put together a plan and a budget to convert the former woodland area between the Hall and the primary school for a multi-use games area (tarmac court) but as part of the development, to open up access to the school sports field (out of school hours) and to work with the Council to invest in new equipment for the school playground and to improve the grass pitch. Watch this space for further updates as the project develops.
Winter Suppers Are Go!
We’re pleased to announce that our funding application to The National Lottery for this round of Winter Suppers has been successful, although we are still looking for funding for 2027! Plans are now underway, with dates to be confirmed soon. This year, our volunteers and trusty catering teams will also provide two suppers in Treslaig Hall. The volunteer planning committee are looking for ideas for some activities and games to be run after the meals (who could forget Kevins Quizes?). If youd like to run something or have an idea please do get in touch!
A Housing Survey with a Difference
In partnership with Ardgour Community Council we will be running a LOCAL housing needs survey throughout October - please look out for it on our website and social media channels. Trish Kennedy, the Trusts Chair said “I’m delighted that the Trust is supporting this project with staff time as part of its work delivering the aspirations of the Ardgour Place Plan adopted in early 2024. With our continued commitment and the hard work of our Development Officer, we look forward to being able to support suitable accommodation options in the future.”
Hard copies of the survey will also be available at the two village halls with sealed ballot boxes for returns for those who prefer not to use an online version. If you, or ANY member of the family is looking to change their housing circumstances in the next 5 years – even perhaps looking to return to live locally, or you are trying to find land to build your house on… WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU! We hope to reach many more households than completed the area-wide survey a for Urram over a year ago so do please complete a survey before Halloween!
Clovullin Affordable Housing Study to begin
We are delighted to announce that the Scottish Land Fund has awarded the AGDT with just under £21,000 to start feasibility work on the plans for up to 6 affordable rented housing units on the woodland to the west of the Ardgour Primary School. This will involve site surveys, test digs and project designs and will be the first step towards purchasing the land, and hopefully getting the houses built – a project that could well take three years or more. The work has also received match funding from the Ardgour Area Fund and the Community Council.
Michael Foxley, Chair of Ardgour Community Council commented "The housing survey and the initial work at Clovullin are our first determined steps in delivering houses and sites for our local young people who are currently forced to leave the area due to the lack of affordable houses. It will also meet the needs of key workers such as teachers and nurses"
Gaelic Conversation Circle
The Gaelic Conversation Circle continues monthly - a relaxed way to explore Gaelic language and culture through themes, guest leaders, and fun activities.
Next session: Saturday 19th October, 3pm at Ardgour Ales (or Ardgour Church if the weather turns). All welcome!
Supported by Ardgour Glensanda Development Trust, Bòrd na Gàidhlig, Watercolour Music and Ardgour Ales.
